The Everyman 595 Hard top

At the 2010 Auckland Boat Show I ended up at the Everyman stand and talked with Nigel Langdale, the guy who builds them.  I had looked over the 635 H/T model but thought it may be a bit big for the wife to hold onto while beach launching.  What I was after was a 6 metre H/T.

Nigel invited me to visit him at the factory in Hamilton and as I also live in Hamilton that suited me.  We went over the plans, I liked what I saw, so gave the go ahead.  It was a great journey watching my boat’s development, from bare hull to the fitting of the hard top.  Nigel was great; he kept me informed on all stages.  Little was changed from the original plan other than a larger live bait tank.  I finished the boat off myself doing the carpeting and squabs and fitting the capstan and electronics.  This kept the cost to within my budget.

The reason I finally went with the Everyman was that a lot of the standard features you find on their boats are an optional extra on others.  You can spec the boats to whatever your budget allows.  The boat’s lines and the finish are exceptional.  The boat rides great, soft and predictable.  They are a very beamy boat giving it fantastic stability.  The fishing cockpit is big.  You can fish four adults easily with room to spare.

Another big plus is dealing directly with the people who design and build them.
